Taiwan Philharmonic 2024 Europe Tour
Taiwan Philharmonic 2024 Europe Tour
In Apr 2024, Taiwan Philharmonic will embark on a six-city From Taiwan tour to Europe, performing in venues rich in history and cultural significance in Switzerland, France, and Germany. Led by Music Director Jun Märkl, the orchestra will perform at Tonhalle Zurich (3 Apr), Victoria Hall Geneva (4 Apr), Stadtcasino Basel (6 Apr), Staatstheater Braunschweig (7 Apr), Elbphilharmonie Hamburg (9 Apr), Kuppelsaal Hannover (11 Apr), and Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris (13 Apr).

Three soloists: pianists Khatia Buniatishvili, Vsevolod Zavidov and Taiwan-American violinist Paul Huang
On this European tour, Taiwan Philharmonic will be joined by three soloists: pianists Khatia Buniatishvili, Vsevolod Zavidov and Taiwan-American violinist Paul Huang. They will perform Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and Violin Concerto. In addition to the two classic concertos, the orchestra will also present Dvořak’s Symphony No. 8 and Yuan-Chen Li’s Tao of Meinong to European audiences. Tao of Meinong combines Hakka songs and local lullabies into a long and melodious work, presenting composer Yuan-Chen Li’s understanding of Taiwan’s local Hakka culture and landscape.
The choice of soloists and repertoire selection of the 2024, From Taiwan tour to Europe is both classical and contemporary, and both global and local, which embodies the spirit of Taiwan that Taiwan Philharmonic wishes to etch deep in the hearts of the world.
