Music stars Kylie Minogue and Tina Arena were among the celebrities who turned out at Arts Centre Melbourne for the spectacular launch of the Australian Music Vault.

Developed by Arts Centre Melbourne in consultation with the music industry, the Australian Music Vault is a celebration of the Australian contemporary music story – past, present and future.

And since the doors opened to the public, visitors to Australia’s largest performing arts centre are giving the new free exhibition a big tick of approval. More than 60,000 people have visited the space in its first six weeks!

The Australian Music Vault is an immersive exhibition showcasing Australian music, innovative digital participatory experiences and iconic objects from the centre’s Australian Performing Arts Collection.

There’s also going to be an ongoing calendar of performances, programmes and events presented at Arts Centre Melbourne and via outreach to communities across Victoria.

At the launch, Tina Arena was announced as a new patron of the Australian Music Vault, joining legendary promoter Michael Gudinski, music guru Ian “Molly” Meldrum, award-winning singer/songwriter Archie Roach and Australia’s favourite pop diva, Kylie Minogue.
