ADAM3 (2019): On places and locality

Initiated and organised by the Taipei Performing Arts Center, the 3rd edition of Asia Discovers Asia Meeting (ADAM) for Contemporary Performance will be held in August 2019.

ADAM runs the artist-led residency programme Artist Lab, a unique opportunity for artists from all kinds of disciplines to work collectively, exploring inter-cultural dialogues and inventing new projects responding current issues of the Asia Pacific region. The guest curator of the Artist Lab in 2019 is Scarlet Yu (HK/ DE/ FR), an artist working across scenes of theatre, dance and performance. Scarlet Yu was one of the participating artists at the first edition of ADAM in 2017 and she has realised the performance project IsLand Bar in collaboration with artists from Japan, Myanmar, Vietnam and Philippines and Taiwan. The project premiered at the Taipei Arts Festival in 2018.

The theme of the Artist Lab in 2019 will be dedicated to the research on places and locality of the city Taipei. It aims to rethink about the relationship between the local and the global, taking several sites and communities of Taipei as social texts.

Artists who are interested in on-site investigation and practice as well as inter-cultural collaborations are welcome to submit proposals to the open call.

The ADAM‘s Artist Lab programme will take place from 22 Jul– to 14 Aug, followed by the Annual Meeting from 15 to 18 Aug.
