VCH’s Rose Studio Recording Awarded to MSM-Productions
Singapore Symphony Group has integrated a state-of-the-art recording facility managed by two international tonmeisters into the Victoria Concert Hall (VCH), making it the only concert hall in Asia for both live and closed-door recordings of classical and acoustic music.

Concert Recording Setup at VCH
Named after Singapore-based philanthropists and sponsors Mr and Mrs Christopher and Rosy Ho, Rose Studio uses the VCH stage and its natural hall acoustics as a recording space, and features a recording control room with both mixing and editing facilities. With two Steinway Model D concert grand pianos and a 2,012-pipe 31-stop manual Klais organ, the 673-seat VCH is now a perfect venue for performances and recordings of solo keyboard to small and medium-sized chamber ensembles.
The Group recently awarded the contract to operate and manage the facility to msm-productions (Singapore), the Asian subsidiary of msm-studios, the Munich-based recording house closely associated with the recordings of the Munich Philharmonic and Valery Gerviev, and also the first Dolby-certified Dolby Atmos Home® mixing facility in Germany.

“At Rose Studio, the musicians enjoy the comforting acoustic environment of a concert hall stage, which propels their depth of inspiration during the recording session much closer to the adrenalin levels of an actual live performance than is possible in a normal recording studio – plus we can tailor every recording to consist of both elements: live performance and closed door patching session. You will hear it in the musicality of the result,” says Johannes Müller, CEO of msm-productions (Singapore).
“Rose Studio is the ideal recording hub for musicians in Asia, who wish to produce their recordings and albums under conditions that are otherwise only found in Europe or America, but without having to travel across multiple time zones,” adds Dominik Streicher, Managing Director and Chief Recording Producer at msm-productions (Singapore).

Singapore Symphony Group CEO Chng Hak-Peng sees the contract award as a further professionalisation in the offerings at the VCH. “With world-class acts regularly making a stop at VCH when touring the region, msm-productions, with its history of recording excellence, will avail to artists the assurance in sound recording quality.”
