New Art Director at Aichi Arts Center

From 2020 at the Aichi Prefectural Art Theater, an arts director” role will be newly established and assumed by Mr Saburo Teshigawara.

Mr Saburo Teshigawara, who has succeeded overseas as a dancer, choreographer and director has been highly praised within and outside Japan. He has been newly nominated to be the representative of this Theater from 2020. By improving its planning abilities and further strengthening its communication abilities, the Theater aims to operate projects worthy of a top class theatre and improve its presence.

“Being appointed as the art director of the Aichi Prefectural Art Theater will be an opportunity to arouse my new adventurous spirit. There is nothing else that moves my feelings more than the expectation about the discovery of beauty and facing many unexpected things. Let’s create a pathway of emotions from the body towards unknown secrets that are not waiting for future plans ; neither is it an old-fashioned avant-garde that only overturns recognition. The theater lives with the expectation of happiness and confusion. Together with the staff, I would like to prepare a pathway of feelings that emotionally resonates; and all the breathing of the audience becomes voices.,” commented Mr Saburo Teshigawara.
