CCP Celebrates its 52nd Year!

The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) celebrates its 52nd year anniversary in September with made-for-digital platform and hybrid activities that include large scale projections at the front facade, the launch of digital projects such as the CCP Collection, special features on the Digital Time Capsule, a Virtual Vernissage for a special collection of prints, and 360 Virtual Reality productions of choral performance. The digital projects explore collaborations between digital technology and the live performing arts in the areas of content creation, production, and distribution. For the second year, the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival screened more than 100 films on its online platform and premiered the first festival-produced 360 VR animation experience entitled Currents. The festival also plans to implement Cinema Under the Stars that transforms an outdoor area of the complex into a drive-in, bike-in, and walk-in cinema when the government health protocols allow. 

More than a year and a half into the quarantine, the venues and buildings remain closed to the public but renovation and limited training activities continue. The CCP took the closure of the venues as an opportunity to address much needed upgrade of facilities, improvement of interior and essential repairs. The CCP Dance Workshop, “rescued” more than twenty retrenched professional dancers by providing classes and living allowances for them to continue their physical training onsite and online. The workshop has expanded its reach to dancers based in different parts of the country through simultaneous online classes.   

Archival, HD and made-for-online videos continue to be delivered through the CCP Channel.
