Remembering Sue Nattrass AO, one of Australia’s most Experienced and Highly Influential Arts Leaders

Sue Nattrass AO, one of Australia’s most experienced and highly influential arts leaders, has died. Sue served the Victorian Arts Centre Trust (now Melbourne Arts Centre), as Operations Manager, Deputy General Manager and General Manager.

While General Manager she was responsible with Asia Pacific colleagues  for setting up the Association of Asia Pacific Performing Arts Centres (AAPPAC). She was a respected member of the Association and was awarded its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016.

Sue was appointed Artistic Director of the Melbourne International Festival, for the festivals of 1998 and 1999, and in 2002, was interim CEO and artistic director of the Adelaide Festival of the Arts.

Sue was made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) 2002, and was also the recipient of the Dame Elisabeth Murdoch Cultural Leadership Award..

At the 2014 Helpman Awards, Live Performance Australia (LPA) introduced the Sue Nattrass Award. This Award recognises outstanding service to the Australian live performance industry.

Sue will be missed by many colleagues in Australia and across Asia Pacific..
