Grand opening for National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) in October 2018
Weiwuying, the most highly anticipated new performing arts centre in Taiwan, will open its door to the public this October.
The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under Gustavo Dudamel, who conducts in Taiwan for the first time, will be among the first artists to perform at Weiwuying. The full 2018 Weiwuying Grand Opening programmes will be unveiled in early June together with membership application and early bird surprises at Weiwuying official website.

Wonderland Project (June, August – September)
As an arts centre for all, Weiwuying will turn the open space Banyan Plaza into a wild, vigorous wonderland! Inspired by the local banyan trees with their iconic crowns, the plaza is a sheltered public space that embraces people generously. There will be creative street dance choreography, open-air cinema and karaoke for all! Join us and explore more excitement!

2018 Weiwuying Children’s Festival (1 – 15 July)
Making audience into the co-creator of our magical community, Weiwuying Children’s Festival will fascinate participants of all ages. Roaming in the Banyan Plaza, you will discover a magical paintbrush leads the journey to hopes and dreams, a mysterious diner reveals the emotional lives of food, and an interactive bedtime story tent places you at the centre of all senses.

Weiwuying Theatre Technical Personnel Training Programme (July-August)
With a vision to become the beacon of artistic navigation in southern Taiwan and a cradle for creative talents, Weiwuying has been training professionals since 2015. Begin with this July, Weiwuying sets forth a three-year programme which trains theatre professionals with theory and practice. The programme welcomes partners who are interested in entering the performing arts industry, and also provides an advanced training pathway for partners who are already working in the theatre field.
“The opening of Weiwuying not only allows theatre talents to return, but also attracts talents outside of the city to migrate to the south. More importantly, practitioners interested in the theatre do not have to travel north for professional training. ” said Chien Wen-Pin, Executive and Artistic Director of National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying).
