National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) Celebrates 2nd Anniversary through a Two-Week Event

In October 2020, Weiwuying celebrates its 2nd anniversary by embracing the public with opening houses and a line-up of activities. Since October 2018, Weiwuying opened its doors for all and graced the city of Kaohsiung in southern Taiwan with its beautiful spaces and extraordinary performances. It is heartwarming to see that the centre has gradually become part of the residents’ lives.

Although nations have been alienated from each other due to the pandemic, the centre is making efforts to keep the industry rolling and seeks to inspire cohesion throughout the performing arts and spread positivity amongst the public.

In late August, the flagship programme, Puccini: Turandot marked a starting point of the second half of 2020. For the 2 performances of Turandot, nearly 4,000 tickets were sold out in 10 days.

Weiwuying Anniversary 2.0 – Let’s Opera!

Weiwuying’s 2nd anniversary is themed Weiwuying Anniversary 2.0. To celebrate our anniversary, let us take you back to the beginnings of opera as we enjoy and experience it together. Let’s Opera is a singing gala open to everyone who loves to sing and express their personal joy through operatic singing. It not only allows audiences to win a chance to perform on the stage of the Weiwuying Recital Hall but could also lead us to discover the next Paul Potts, Susan Boyle, or Connie Talbot, who could be standing amongst us.
