New Appointments in Tongyeong

After seven years as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Artistic Director of the Tongyeong International Music Festival and Tongyeong Concert Hall, Florian Riem is moving to Switzerland to take on a new role as Secretary General of the World Federation of International Music Competitions (WFIMC) in Geneva. The Federation represents competitions in the region, namely in China, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand, and will become a member of AAPPAC’s Business Circle from 2021.

In Tongyeong, Yongmin Lee will take over the position of CEO from January 2021, while renowned composer Unsuk Chin will become Artistic Director of the festival from 2022. Recipient of the Grawemeyer Award, the Arnold Schoenberg Prize and a number of other awards, Unsuk Chin is amongst the most successful composers of our time. Her music has been performed by the Berlin Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, the Philharmonia Orchestra, and countless others.
