The West Kowloon Video Platform
In addition to physical performances, exhibitions and events, West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA) continues to experiment with digital programming, presenting a wide variety of online content from complete performances, to interviews with artists, talks, workshops and behind the scenes documentaries on our West Kowloon Video Platform – https://digital.westkowloon.hk . Through this video platform, audiences can explore our most up-to-date online content and experience the WKCDA at home or anywhere at their convenience.
From March to May 2022, a wide range of performing arts digital programmes from artist interviews, dance films, educational videos to online premiere of music performances and excerpts of Cantonese Opera, and many more, will be shared on our platform. Revisiting Art Tech development at Freespace
Freespace encourages young talents on all fronts of the performing arts.

TechBox is a collaborative platform Freespace established with the School of Theatre and Entertainment Arts (TEA) at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. The four-year platform was launched last year to bring together media artists, theatre designers, faculty members and students to explore new frontiers of technology and performance through research, discussion and experimentation.

The D. H. Chen Foundation – West Kowloon Tea House Student Matinees: Online Programme
WKCDA has designed an online programme, West Kowloon Tea House Student Matinees for secondary students to enjoy Cantonese opera at school or at home.
The 30-minute programme – a recorded version of the live student matinee performances and tour – includes a Cantonese opera excerpt performance, a Cantonese opera song, a music ensemble performance and a short tour of the Xiqu Centre. All performances are presented by the Xiqu Centre’s Tea House Rising Stars Troupe. During the recording, narrators guide students through each segment of the programme, offering insight on the art form, its history and cultural significance today.
To enhance engagement, we also provide two accessible versions of the programme, one with audio description, the other with Sign language, theatrical interpretation and accessible captions.
