Experience Gold Coast Appoints Head of Arts and Culture

Experience Gold Coast has announced the executive appointment of Yarmila Alfonzetti into the newly created role of Head of Arts and Culture.

Yarmila joins the Experience Gold Coast Executive Leadership team following two years at the helm of Queensland Symphony Orchestra.

As one of Australia’s leading arts professionals, Yarmila has an impressive background in performing arts, having held a number of senior roles across the industry. These include CEO of State Opera South Australia, CEO of Sydney Youth Orchestras, Head of Classical Music at Sydney Opera House, and four years as programming consultant to the Perth International Arts Festival.

Yarmila holds a Masters of Project Management from the University of Sydney, a Graduate Diploma of Arts, Entertainment, and Media Management from the University of Technology Sydney, and graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music, Musicology.

Yarmila’s key focus will be driving growth and activating the HOTA precinct, along with two of the Gold Coast’s most loved arts festivals BLEACH* and Big City Lights.

“The significance of joining such an impressive team who constantly create and deliver arts and culture events that enrich all our lives, is not lost on me.”

“The Big City Lights festival and the launch of the BLEACH* program, through to theatre productions at HOTA as well as inspiring exhibitions like the recent collaboration with the National Gallery of Australia, makes me incredibly excited to join this team. I look forward to the future and honouring this legacy for the City.”

Yarmila commenced her new role on 1 July.
