With 15 years of multifaceted and memorable experiences to its name, Melbourne Recital Centre has unveiled a future-forward brand and state-of-the-art accessible website, setting the scene for the organisation’s enterprising and exciting next chapter.
Working in creative partnership with Studio MASS, an award-winning Melbourne-based human-centred design agency, Melbourne Recital Centre’s new brand exemplifies boldness, exploration, diversity and architectural framing.
After extensive consultation with audiences, artists and industry, at the heart of the new brand is local placemaking, shared connections and the sensory awakening that is born from immersion in a quality, personal live music experience.
A sanctuary for sound, a stage for connection.
This is expressed visually through simulation of Melbourne Recital Centre’s façade and the tessellated window shapes that are often colloquially referred to as ‘honeycomb’ by locals and passersby. These windows serve as the key brand asset – a lens. The lens can be interpreted literally, where visitors can discover the sounds behind the honeycomb and immerse themselves in an exceptional live music experience of their choice. The lens can also be interpreted figuratively as a consistently recognisable graphic across platforms, collateral, campaigns and activations.
Award-winning Melbourne-based digital design agency Studio Bravo was selected from a highly competitive tender process to redevelop Melbourne Recital Centre’s new website, positioning accessibility at the forefront and the structural frame for the new brand to flourish. The result is a creative and contemporary eCommerce platform that is custom integrated with Tessitura, built with user consideration and convenience front-of-mind, and which caters simultaneously to diverse community needs and commercial revenue imperatives for the Centre.

Melbourne Recital Centre’s dynamic new brand and website transformation amplifies the high-powered programme of self-presented events recently announced as part of the Centre’s 2025 music programme.
Three-time GRAMMY®-nominee Rufus Wainwright opens the year with an intimate, solo performance in his highly anticipated return to the Centre, followed by two days dedicated to little ears and big imaginations for Mini Music-lovers, headlined by Zindzi & The Zillionaires and All The Queens Men.
Audio-visual raconteur and founding director of Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio, Robin Fox takes up artistic residency at the Centre in 2025. His first performance presents Triptych, a hypnotic fusion of high-art techno, sonic mass, and buzzing electronica in a visceral, communal experience.
International luminaries Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and The Tallis Scholars headline an expansive classical programme also featuring Matthias Goerne with Daniil Trifonov, Genesis Baroque with Sara Macliver, Stephen Hough, Clara-Jumi Kang + Latitude 37, Schola Cantorum and more.
The Centre’s 2025 line-up also features transcendent modern pianist Hania Rani, ethereal instrumentalist and vocalist RY X, GRAMMY® Award winner, songstress and genre chameleon Allison Russell, Saharan rockers Etran deLAir, Katie Noonan and Karin Schaupp performing Songs of the Southern Skies Volume II, John Grant performing his most opulent, cinematic, and luxurious album yet, with more to be announced.
This enlivening and eclectic selection is complemented by an impactful year-round Creative and Community Engagement programme, Free Music free concerts for all, creative development opportunities for artists and regular guided tours.
