Carnegie Hall and Suntory Hall Partnership Programme
Suntory Hall will be presenting the Carnegie Hall National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA) conducted by Gianandrea Noseda on 26 Jul 2025 at the Main Hall of Suntory Hall.
Established in 2013, the NYO-USA is Carnegie Hall’s foremost educational programme for nurturing the next generation of musicians. Each summer, around 100 young musicians ages 16-19 are selected by nationwide audition, and they take part in a multi-week training residency with world-class conductors, soloists and leading professional orchestral musicians, followed by a national/international tour. In the past, NYO-USA has toured 19 countries and regions and has received high acclaim by critics and audiences. The programme also offers apprenticeships to students who are interested in roles beyond instrumental positions such as orchestral management, librarians, or composers. This year, Gianandrea Noseda (Conductor) and Ray Chen (Violin) will take part in their Japan tour.
Suntory Hall, who shares Carnegie Hall’s vision in nurturing the next generation, entered a partnership with Carnegie Hall in 2006 to work jointly towards creating the environment for the music education of the future generation. Since then, various exchange programmes have taken place in Tokyo and New York based on this partnership, and this year, Suntory Hall is pleased to host NYO-USA’s first visit to Japan. For this concert, U19 tickets (for people aged 19 and under) will be available at a special price, in hopes that young people of the same generation as the NYO-USA members will be able to experience their passion-filled performances.
