Seoul Arts Center’s Orchestra Festival

SAC 2024 Orchestra Festival
The Seoul Arts Center (SAC) Orchestra Festival stands as the pinnacle of classical music celebrations in Korea. Each year, approximately 20 orchestras unite to deliver an immersive symphonic experience. Originating in 1989 to mark the first anniversary of the music hall’s opening, this festival has evolved over 36 years to become one of Korea’s premier and most expansive classical music festival.
The SAC Orchestra Festival, integral to the evolution of Korean orchestras, has emerged as the nation’s premier classical music extravaganza, catering to both performers and audiences alike with its distinctive programming. Beyond its musical offerings, the festival serves as a catalyst for exploring the contemporary and future landscapes of Korean classical music, fostering cultural unity and driving collaborative growth between Seoul and regions across the country.
What commenced with 11 symphony orchestras in its inaugural year has blossomed into an annual gathering of over 20 orchestras for the past 36 years. Remarkably, this year’s festival boasts a unique lineup: 23 performances by 23 orchestras, each presenting distinct pieces. Featuring a total of 61 symphonies and concertos, the festival spans a diverse repertoire, from timeless classics to contemporary works. Moreover, the event will be enhanced by the participation of esteemed conductors and performers from both Korea and abroad.
All performances are accessible from the comfort of one’s home through the SAC’s video platform, Digital Stage. This platform is accessible on desktop computers (http://digital.sac.or.kr) as well as smartphones and tablets via the mobile app. Furthermore, the festival is available for free viewing at local cultural centers, the Seoul Arts Center outdoor stage, and through public radio broadcasts.
