Opening Our Doors to Connect with the World on Weiwuying’s 8th Anniversary
Weiwuying Organ Festival will start on 14 Oct with Olivier LATRY a titular organist who serves the venue as organ consultant and the Artistic Director of the Notre-Dame de Paris. He has arranged for three concerts of varying styles, including highly technical organ solos, grand symphonic concertos, and a four-hand performance with Shin Young LEE. Pieces span classics from the Baroque to the contemporary eras, from subtle, finely crafted tonal textures to grand, resounding soundscapes that fully present the rich expression of the organ and push the glorious timbre of Asia’s largest pipe organ into the limelight.
From 27-29 Nov, the biennial Taiwan Dance Platform will bring together artists from Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Korea, Japan, Israel, the US, and Canada alongside their potent momentum, with a focus on avant-garde theatre perspectives and contemporary stage technology. In addition, the “Battle of Styles” will gather the different vocabularies of ballet, contemporary dance, street dancing, and circus arts onto one stage for encounters and dialogue through an in-depth exchange to break down existing frameworks. These performances, together with talks and workshops, will continue to nurture works from Taiwan with new momentum and serve as a space for lively dialogue among artists of different generations.
Weiwuying will continue to welcome world-class artists while holding to its commitment to foster local talent as a springboard to the world stage while ensuring sustainable development for the arts sector in southern Taiwan.
