Weiwuying’s 24 Hours TCHAIKOVSKY

24 Hours TCHAIKOVSKY

National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) has held the 24 Hours series annually since 2020 a highly popular event that offers continual music programmes featuring the same composer over 24 hours. Previous years have seen series on SCHUBERT, MOZART, and BEETHOVEN, and 2025 is dedicated to TCHAIKOVSKY. Come for an all-nighter of great music!

For 24 Hours, TCHAIKOVSKY will take place from 5pm on 22 – 23 Feb. Over 300 musicians will put on performances, and there will also be lectures, a film screening, and dancing, totaling 30 events in all. The programme lineup includes the composer’s major orchestral works (three great ballet suites, three symphonies, Variations on a Rococo Theme, Piano Concerto No. 1, and Violin Concerto), selected chamber music, piano solos, and choral pieces, all of which are prime examples of TCHAIKOVSKY’s powerful sense of melody.

What’s more, on the night before the event, 21 Feb, there will be a programme PLUS: Eugene Onegin Opera in Concert, for which South Korean baritone JUNG Ilhun will sing Onegin’s part alongside up-and-coming Taiwanese soprano HSIAO Han as Tatyana; others in the lineup include WENG Jo-pei, WANG Yu-hsin, CHEN Pei-chi, CHOI Seung-jin, HSIEH Ming-mou, LIN Yi-wei, and TSENG Wen-I, all of whom are active vocalists in Taiwan. Weiwuying Artistic Director CHIEN Wen-pin will conduct the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra and the Kaohsiung Chamber Choir, and with the outstanding acoustics of the Weiwuying Concert Hall, it will be the perfect tribute to the great writer and composer respectively behind the novel and opera Eugene Onegin and a superb kickoff to 24 Hours TCHAIKOVSKY.
