Exciting concerts await in Q4 2026 at Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS
Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP), located in the middle of the PETRONAS Twin Towers, continues to enthrall music lovers with an array of exciting concerts in its last quarter of the season.
Oct 2026 opens with a celebration of homegrown talents in a concert themed Three By Three on 3 Oct. Violinist Low Zi Yang, cellist Benett Tsai and pianist Tony Yike Yang will collaborate with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) to present Beethoven’s Triple Concerto. Besides this virtuosic dialogue, the MPO will also perform the serene beauty of Vaughn-Williams’ Symphony No. 5 and Arnold’s The Roots of Heaven Overture. Maestro Michał Nesterowicz returns to DFP to lead the MPO.

Next, don’t miss a rock-orchestral concert themed The Music Of Queen Lives On! by the MPO on 10 Oct. To be led by Brent Havens, this concert will witness the bridging of the gulf between rock n’ roll and classical music. The programme is scored to extend the listening experience of Queen’s timeless hits, amplified with a full rock band and MiG Ayesa on vocals, capturing the distinct sound of the band. Set to be a rockin’ unforgettable night!

Local powerhouse vocalist Jaclyn Victor will perform with the MPO to present a concert celebrating her two-decade musical journey. Themed Gemilang Bersama MPO, the concert will present her timeless hits with fresh arrangements and emotional depth on 17 Oct under the helm of Ahmad Muriz Che Rose.

World renowned pianist Stephen Hough returns to the DFP stage to collaborate with the MPO on 24 Oct. To be led by its Music Director, Junichi Hirokami, the concert will witness Hough’s performance for Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.5 nicknamed ‘Emperor’ before the MPO closes the concert with Beethoven’s powerful Symphony No.4. Expect a night of grandeur and musical mystery! The talented young musicians of the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (MPYO) return to the DFP stage to share its brilliant orchestral artistry in a concert themed A Symphonic Splendour on 28 Oct 2026. Under the baton of Gerard Salonga, the MPYO will present delightful works, from sparkling overtures and lyrical solo writing to elegant ballet music and cinematic drama. Shostakovich’s Festive Overture will open the concert followed by Tchaikovsky’s Variations on a Rococo Theme (featuring MPO cellist Dylan Lee Mihn Tang) and an enchanting waltz from Swan Lake, before Khachaturian’s Spartacus Suite No. 2 provides a thrilling finale.

Next, enjoy a night of elegant classical work mixed with Bornean flavour on 31 Oct. Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin and Mozart’s Symphony No.4 will be interspersed with a new work for ‘sape’ and orchestra composed by Vivian Chua. The premiere of this work will feature ‘sape’ player Alena Murang who dazzled the audience in a concert themed The Sounds Of Borneo in 2024. Junichi Hirokami will lead.
Popular Indonesian singer Kunto Aji will collaborate with the MPO in a concert themed Simfoni Mantra on Saturday, 14 Nov 2026 at 8 pm. This marks his second performance at DFP after a solo concert in 2022. This time around, fans will be spellbound with the orchestral grandeur and enhanced poignancy under the baton of Ahmad Muriz Che Rose.

The MPO’s next offering is concert themed A Chorale Spectacular on 5 Dec. Under the leadership of Junichi Hirokami, journey into the heart of opera’s most powerful moments in a concert dedicated to the mighty voice of the chorus. Featuring the Kuala Lumpur City Opera Chorus, experience this choral tapestry as the MPO presents a weave of masterpieces by Puccini, Borodin and Mascagni in an evening that celebrates the grandeur, intimacy and sheer thrilling power of grand opera choruses.

The glorious 2026 season will culminate with a true holiday favourite, the movie screening of Home Alone on 12 Dec. This beloved comedy classic features renowned composer John Williams’ charming and delightful score performed ‘live’ to picture by the MPO. Macaulay Culkin stars as Kevin McCallister, an 8-year-old boy who’s accidentally left behind when his family leaves for Christmas vacation and who must defend his home against two bungling thieves. Hilarious and heart-warming, this offering is holiday fun for the entire family. Gerard Salonga will lead the MPO.
