Adelaide Festival Centre’s Walk of Fame launched in January with a spectacular gala concert featuring a number of star recipients. The Walk of Fame honours the diverse talents of many artists who have graced Adelaide Festival Centre stages since 1973. Artists from around Australia gathered on 19 Jan to celebrate their achievements, Adelaide Festival Centre, and the Walk of Fame.

2018 brings more exciting change for Adelaide Festival Centre with Her Majesty’s Theatre closing in April to undergo a dramatic and state of the art redevelopment. The renewal and expansion of this historic theatre is great news for South Australians and fans of art and architecture across the region. The new theatre will open in 2020 and will see an influx of commercial works and musicals to Adelaide.

Autumn marks the start of Adelaide Festival Centre’s Something on Saturday programme. From April to August, Something on Saturday presents fun and inspiring Saturdays introducing arts, music and craft for zero to ten year olds. Also in April, Windmill Theatre Co’s Grug and the Rainbow will be returning to Space Theatre and the 78-Storey Treehouse bigger than ever!

Adelaide Festival Centre’s Season 2018 is a musical lover’s dream. Still to come this year are Priscilla Queen of the Desert, MAMMA MIA!, and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. But first, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new production of The Wizard of Oz comes to Festival Theatre in April in an enchanting revision of the all-time classic. Leading the company of over 40 performers is Australian musical theatre legend Anthony Warlow as the Wizard and Professor Marvel, and leading ladies Lucy Durack as Glinda and Jemma Rix as Miss Gulch and the Wicked Witch of the West. Rising star Samantha Dodemaide will play the coveted role of Dorothy.

In May, State Theatre Company South Australia presents a sparkling adaptation of Sense and Sensibility. Adelaide Festival Centre and Insite Arts present Concrete Impermanence, an engaging piece of contemporary dance that reminds us of the inevitable reality of our fragile existence. Concrete Impermanence interrogates global and personal instability through the dynamic use of sculptural objects, moving landscapes and the body as form.

Adelaide Cabaret Festival is the festival State’s Winter Festival

In June, Adelaide’s favourite winter festival, Adelaide Cabaret Festival returns with Adelaide Festival Centre creative teams working closely with Artistic Director Ali McGregor to present a spectacular programme. Festival favourites are back (including the Variety Gala, Family Gala, Closing Gala, Backstage Club and Cabaret Dinner) to complement a spectacular programme of dazzling premieres, collaborations and world-class performers.
