Montreal-based arts management agency Latitude 45 Arts is delighted to announce the activities of several of its artist’s upcoming tours in the Asia-Pacific region.

Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra has just returned from their third tour to Australia in collaboration with Musica Viva, which included eight concert dates in May and June 2018. The award-winning ensemble presented their multi-media concert Bach and His World, which features excerpts from J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations, his Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, and the first Orchestral Suite in C Major, all performed on period instruments. This November, Canadian pianist Corey Hamm will tour in China and Thailand with two recital programmes: his celebrated performance of Frederic Rzewski’s The People United Will Never Be Defeated, and a programme of piano sonatas by Prokofiev, Dutilleux and Kapustin. Corey Hamm has established a unique musical profile as a soloist and chamber musician performing widely throughout North America and Asia. His recording of The People United Will Never Be Defeated won Spotify’s Best Classical Recording 2014. He has commissioned, premiered and recorded over 200 works by composers from all over the world.

His upcoming tour in Asia includes concert dates at universities and conservatories throughout China and in Eelswamp, Thailand – dates to be announced soon! There are still some available dates in November, so please contact Latitude 45 if you have an interest in presenting this incredible pianist and musician.

Looking ahead, you can expect to see Corey’s collaboration with erhu virtuoso Nicole Ge Li, PEP (Piano and Erhu Project), touring the Asia-Pacific region in Fall of 2019. To date, the ensemble has commissioned over 70 works for the pairing of piano and erhu, including a number of works by Chinese and Chinese-Canadian composers, among them Gao Ping, Alice Ho, Chan Ka Nin, Roydon Tse, Dorothy Chang, Si Ang Chen, and more. PEP is always looking to expand their catalogue of repertoire with new commissions, and is currently working on projects with Hong Kong-based composers – stay tuned for details!

In May 2019, Canadian pianist Eve Egoyan will be touring her new programme EarWitness in Australia. Using a disklavier, a fully digitally interfaced acoustic concert piano, the programme is a deeply integrated virtuosic mix of sound, image and unspoken narrative which challenges traditional conceptions of piano and pianist. EarWitness leads its audience through layered emotional musical worlds; contrastingly introspective, startling, playful, poetic and urgent. Concert dates to include performances in Wollongong, Monash University in Melbourne and Perth.
