Montreal-based arts management agency Latitude 45 Arts is delighted to announce the activities of our artists’ upcoming tours in the Asia-Pacific region.

In May 2019, pianist Eve Egoyan will be touring Australia in four concerts featuring her innovative concert programme Solo For Duet, as well as a recital of works by Erik Satie. She will be presenting these programmes at the Canberra International Music Festival, Tura New Music in Perth, and at Monash University from 10 to 26 May.

Egoyan explores the potential of the Disklavier, collaborating with composers and artists to bring an organic melding of sounds, film and interactive images to her audiences. Egoyan’s intense focus, command of the instrument, insightful interpretations, and unique programmes welcome her audiences into unknown territory.

Josh “Socalled” Dolgin, dubbed “the mad wizard of Yiddish hip-hop” will be performing at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival on 15 and 16 Jun.

Corey Hamm, recently back from a tour in China in November-December 2018, will be returning to Asia with his duo, PEP (Piano Erhu Project), in October and November 2019. Erhu player Nicole Ge Li and pianist Corey Hamm are the masterminds behind the ensemble and the creation of this catalogue of over 75 new works for this formation. The erhu is a 1,000-year-old bowed, two-string Chinese instrument, and in the 21st century, it finally has been given occasion to meet the piano. The marriage of the two is profoundly agreeable: Li and Hamm’s music is lithe, transportive, even funky. In spring of 2018, they premiered the first double concerto for erhu and piano ever written with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra: Dorothy Chang’s Gateways. Five years in, PEP’s pairing of two iconic Eastern and Western instruments has proven an unqualified success.

In addition to his work with PEP, Corey Hamm has established a unique musical profile as a solo pianist and chamber musician of diverse talents. In conjunction with PEP’s duo tour in Asia, Corey Hamm will offer recitals and masterclasses on the classical piano repertoire. In recent years, he has toured extensively with Frederic Rzewski‘s hour-long solo piano epic The People United Will Never Be Defeated!  His recording of this work won Spotify’s Best Classical Recording in 2014. Ricardo Gallardo, a member from the Percussion Ensemble Tambuco recently traveled to Japan this past February to give masterclasses and lectures at the Nagoya Music College. With over 25 years of international concerts and recordings, Tambuco is known worldwide as one of the finest percussion quartets performing today. Among many honours and awards, they are the first non-Japanese artists to receive the Japan Foundation Award for Culture. Tambuco has toured across Latin America, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, the United States and Canada. Recently, they toured with the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra in the great concert halls of Europe, featuring Javier Álvarez’s percussion concerto, and they showcased at the 2018 WAA conference in the USA. Tambuco will return to Asia in September and October 2020.
