GWB’s Global Musical-Theatre Presence Continues To Grow

GWB Entertainment is proud to be presenting some of the world’s best known, first-class musical theatre productions to AAPPAC member venues in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

Among them is West Side Story, which is hailed as the greatest Broadway musical of all time. Featuring a brilliant young cast, the BB Group production – presented by GWB Entertainment and Opera Australia – has already thrilled audiences at its premiere at the Arts Centre Melbourne in April.

Further seasons will take place at the Sydney Opera House, Canberra Theatre Centre and Adelaide Festival Centre throughout the remainder of 2019.

Other AAPPAC member venues – Queensland Performing Arts Centre and Auckland Live in New Zealand – will host the Australian production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock The Musical, which has just wrapped up a four-month, seven-city tour of China.

In other exciting news for School of Rock fans, GWB Entertainment and S&Co are excited to be presenting the hit show in South Korea for the very first time, opening at Seoul Charlotte Theatre in early June.

This production – which features an international cast from the US, UK and Australia – will run until September with the final shows at the Busan Dream Theatre / Daegu Keimyung Art Center.

The critically-acclaimed Lincoln Center Theater’s production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The King & I will make its debut in Japan from 11 Jul.

Starring Tony Award-winner Kelli O’Hara and Tony Award-nominee Ken Watanabe, who are reprising their roles last year’s UK season, the show runs until 4 Aug at Tokyo Theatre Orb.

Universally loved, Matilda the Musical will premiere in China in July as part of its International Tour which has already won hearts in South Africa and Singapore. This next leg will cover 14 different locations in China and into Hong Kong for the next six months into early 2020.

Elsewhere in Asia, the world’s most famous musical, The Phantom of the Opera, made is long-awaited return to the world stage in February 2019.

The World Tour kicked off in Manila before playing in Singapore. AAPPAC member venue, Istana Budaya in Kuala Lumpur, will host the next leg of the world tour for two weeks in June, before it moves to Tel Aviv and Dubai later this year. GWB Entertainment is proud to be undertaking the role of General Management and Ticket Bookings.
