2019 Shenzhen Concert Hall A-Cappella Festival and Highlights of September

The 5th Shenzhen Concert Hall A-Cappella Festival is coming in July this year, featuring wonderful performances given by Naturally 7 and POSTYR. Programmes in September will spotlight such music genres as classical music played by MozART Group in a humorous way and by the London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle, and Chinese folk music presented by Ruan Maestro Martin Feng.

Comprising 7 band members, Naturally 7 make music using only their voices in multiple ways. What they do is far more than a-cappella. They summon up soul, rap, rock and folk in one harmonious balance. Every band member has his preferred style, or favourite songs and together they can interpret them all. They have famous fans such as Michael Bublé, Coldpay, Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock and many others.

The group has become known worldwide for their characteristic and evocative sound, combining five captivating voices with sampled beats and heartfelt songwriting, also making POSTYR’s live performances unprecedented in the international music landscape.

Mozart Comes to Town – A Music Comedy by MozART Group

All four gentlemen of the MozART Group are well educated instrumentalists who graduated from prestigious Academies of Music in Warsaw and Łódz. They decided to play classical music in a humorous way. Since their first cabaret in 1997, they have given concert in Europe, Canada, the U.S., and Asia among others. To date, they have won a series of awards, including Special Award from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Poland for Outstanding Achievements, Grand Prix at the 31st GAGY Festival of Humor and Satire in Kremnica and all three main prizes at the 10^th Festival des Artes Burlesques in St. Etienne (the Grand Prix of the Jury, the Audience Award and the Press Award).

Martin Feng and Man Tian Quartet Mid-Autumn Concert

Martin Feng was born from a musical family, and his father is Chinese yueqin virtuoso Feng Shaoxian. He started studying the violin with Russian violinist Bachyev at the age of four and started learning the yueqin with his father at the age of six. In 1978, he was admitted to the China National Traditional Orchestra and has served as zhongruan recitalist ever since. He is proficient in many ethnic plucked string instruments. He paid a visit to nearly 30 countries with the orchestra, including Switzerland, Russia, Austria and the United States of America, and gave performances at world-famous art stages such as the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall and KKL Luzern.

Sir Simon Rattle with London Symphony Orchestra in Concert

Established in 1904, the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) was one of the first self-governing orchestras. Every year, it gives over 70 concerts in London and performs 50 to 60 worldwide, striving to bring great music to as many people as possible. Beyond the performances, the LSO also programmes concerts and workshops at LSO St Luke’s through its community and education programme LSO Discovery.

Sir Simon started to hold the position of Music Director of London Symphony Orchestra in September 2017. He has received numerous prestigious international awards for his recordings such as the 2009 Grammy Award for Best Choral Performance. His most recent recordings include Ravel, Dutilleux and Delage with LSO Live. Alongside, Sir Simon has been awarded several prestigious personal honours and won several prizes for his contribution to music education. During the 2018 to 2019 season, Sir Simon will embark on tours to Japan, South Korea and Europe with London Symphony Orchestra.

Emanuel captured public attention in 1974 when he won the first Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition in Tel Aviv and in 1979 he won the coveted Avery Fisher Prize in New York. Always a committed exponent of contemporary composers, with works written for him by John Adams, Christopher Rouse, Krzysztof Penderecki, Bright Sheng, and Melinda Wagner already in his repertoire, most recently he has added HK Gruber’s Piano Concerto and Samuel Adams’ Impromptus.
