Asia Discovers Asia Meeting for Contemporary Performance

A new network for artistic development and international collaboration

The Asia Discovers Asia Meeting for Contemporary Performance (ADAM) returns in Taipei this summer by bringing together artists and curators from across the fields of visual and performing arts with social-engaged practice.

Japanese artist Natsuki Ishigami will be leading the key programme Artist Lab, titled Performing (with/in) Communities, co-facilitated with Filipino artist Joseph Keith Anicoche and Taiwanese artist Wen Szu-Ni. In the Artist Lab, artists including Lyno Vuth (Cambodia), Xin Cheng (New Zealand/ Germany), Han Xue-mei (Singapore), Niu Jun-Qiang (Taiwan) among others will be exploring the methods and relational politics of working with communities. During the residency, artists are also encouraged to approach and do research on local communities, such as LGBTQ, migrant workers, social-movement practitioners and the indigenous.

In the ADAM’s Annual Meeting, Artist Lab will present public-sharing as early-stage outcome of their on-site research in the city Taipei. Additionally, the Annual Meeting will present a series of panel discussions and performative lectures revolving around issues in contemporary art and society, such as Rooftop Institute in Hong Kong, Times Museum in Guangdong and C-Lab in Taiwan among others, introducing their social practice approaching the urban ecology, education and community art.

The 3rd edition of ADAM’s Annual Meeting will be held from 15 to 18 Aug, during the period of Taipei Arts Festival. International arts professionals are invited to register.
