Tai Kwun Performing Arts Season

Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and Arts (Tai Kwun) will launch the brand-new Performing Arts Season in September 2020. Since Tai Kwun’s opening in May 2018, two successful editions of Theatre Season (July) and Dance Season (September to October) had been presented with a diverse line-up of international and local programmes. This year, the season will give a special focus on multi-genre works spanning across contemporary dance, theatre and music created by Hong Kong artists

Tai Kwun is dedicated to supporting the local creative industry by commissioning new works and providing long-term collaborative opportunities to independent artists. In this upcoming Performing Arts Season, Tai Kwun is proud to present a variety of original and innovative ideas put together by local creative talents. Hong Kong choreographers Joseph LeeRebecca Wong and playwright-director Yan Pat To, who had all participated in the past Theatre and Dance Seasons, will premiere three new works in September 2020 at the unique heritage environment of Tai Kwun (details below)

Apart from new creations, Tai Kwun also values original works that embody the potential for further development. Yat Po Singers, who created This Victoria Has No Secrets for Tai Kwun’s opening season in May 2018, will return with a new rendering of the much-admired acapella theatre production at Parade Ground, the outdoor hub of Tai Kwun (details below).

The Performing Arts Season will not only serve as the platform to showcase the talented Hong Kong artists, it will also be a major performing arts event that connects the industry and community amid the impact brought by COVID-19. Pandemic preventive measures, such as reduced capacity, frequent cleaning and temperature scanning will be implemented to ensure the safety of visitors, artists and staff.
