Freespace Mixtape & Dear 2021 at West Kowloon

Freespace Mixtape Vol. 3 is now available online! 

The District has been actively promoting Freespace Mixtape – a series of cross-genre music collaborations over the past years. These are activities designed to inspire musicians to experiment with new sounds and original compositions and arrangements.  

From 2019 to 2020, 13 groups of talented musicians were invited to create and record 23 tracks for Freespace Mixtape Vol. 3, a follow-up to Freespace Mixtape Vol. 1 (2017) and Freespace Mixtape Vol. 2 (2019). Stepping into a recording studio with new collaborators, the individuals who had taken part in the project were encouraged to take a fresh look at their work, revisiting tracks and exploring new ideas. Through collaborations and exploring their musical instincts, these artists pushed and blurred the boundaries between musical genres. The result is an exciting, eclectic collection of music that we have brought together on our Freespace Mixtapes.
