Summer Life Week 2022

Taiwan Traditional Theatre Center’s 2022 annual Summer Life Week will be held in July. Themed Fantasy vs. Myth, the 2022 event will focus on audiences of all ages and enable them to find their own most treasured summertime feelings through our relaxing and joyous programmes.  

This year, Fantasy vs. Myth has invited six troupes for audience of all ages to explore a new dimension of traditional performance easily. Two brilliant performances will take place at the Main Theatre. Setting off on a journey through well-known classical literature, tales told through the interpretive medium of Taiwanese gezai opera will stimulate children’s interest in the traditional arts as well as convey the meaning behind classical texts. The programme includes the Feng Shen Bao Bao Troupe production of Guan, Chang and Liu of Lousang Village and offers a new perspective to the Legend of the Three Kingdoms to kids. Chichia Opera Theatre’s magnificent production Erlang and Howling Celestial Dog will add video gaming as an element to present a whole new dimension of traditional performance.  

The four performances to be staged at the Experimental Theatre, include acrobatics, puppetry, and new plays. Diabolo Dance Theatre’s The Watcher, combs through splendid lighting effects and acrobatics with traditional yo-yos called diabolo. Ming Hsing Ke Glove Puppet Theatre’s Zheng Chenggong Fights with Two Tigers combines a live traditional band, lighting effects and images of Taiwanese puppetry to bring funny story to kids. Fevervine Dance Theatre will be presenting Wandering Stage. The performance will show the golden age of stage. Madam Hei Pi is an adaptation from a Chiayi folk legend presented by Cheng Ming Lung Taiwanese Opera Company 

Summer Life Week 2022 will show the beauty of tradition deep within the heart of both audiences and neighbouring communities.
