Adelaide Festival Centre’s OzAsia Festival enthralled Adelaide from 21 Sep to 8 Oct again this year, presenting Australia’s largest ever programme of art from Singapore; and outstanding theatre, music, dance and visual arts from across Asia.

OzAsia Festival’s Moon Lantern Festival parades through Elder Park on 1 October.

Australia’s leading international arts festival engaging with Asia brought over 300 professional artists and more than 400 local community artists. The programme featured contemporary artists from Japan, Singapore, China, India, Malaysia, Korea, The Philippines, Hong Kong and Indonesia. There were six world premieres and 19 Australian premieres, more than 97 professional performances, over 100 community performances, 18 talk events, 21 film screenings, 6 exhibitions and 67 workshops. Alongside OzAsia Festival, Australia Singapore Arts Group (ASAG)’s Australia – Singapore Cultural Leaders’ Forum was hosted by Adelaide Festival Centre and the South Australian Museum in Adelaide on 28 and 29 Sep. The forum brought together senior leaders in the arts and cultural sectors in both countries, providing opportunities to develop relationships and collaborative projects. The inaugural meeting was a major step in both nations’ arts and cultural relationship.

Our Mob 2017 highlights the diversity and vitality of contemporary art by South Australian Aboriginal artists.

From 20 Oct to 2 Dec, Adelaide Festival Centre’s annual contemporary art exhibition Our Mob 2017 features the work of South Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists. Prizes include a $5,000 Don Dunstan Foundation Our Mob Emerging Artist Prize 2017, Country Arts SA Regional Our Mob Emerging Artists Professional Development Award, and Our Young Mob: art materials donated by Ananguku Arts & Cultural Aboriginal Corporation. Children’s theatre at its finest, Big Bad Wolf comes to Adelaide Festival Centre’s Space Theatre in October.

In October, Windmill Theatre Co and Adelaide Festival Centre present Big Bad Wolf, a hilarious, table turning tale featuring favourite fairy tale characters for audiences aged five and over. As part of Adelaide Festival Centre’s inSPACE Program, Insite Arts and Adelaide Festival Centre present Angelique at Her Majesty’s Theatre. Angelique will engage with the venue, inviting audiences to discover Her Majesty’s Theatre in a new light before it undergoes a dramatic renewal in 2018.

From 14 to 16 Dec, Christmas comes to Her Majesty’s Theatre with Adelaide Festival Centre’s beloved Christmas Proms. It’s a heart-warming concert series featuring popular Christmas songs and traditional carols: perfect for the whole family!

Adelaide Festival Centre’s 2018 Season will launch on 30 October 2017.

With the reopening of Festival Theatre and the unveiling of Adelaide Festival Centre’s Walk of Fame and redeveloped northern promenade, 2018 will be a monumental year for Adelaide Festival Centre. The Festival Centre’s 2018 Season features highlights across theatre, dance, music and exhibitions. It’s a year for musicals with an incredible six major musicals gracing Adelaide Festival Centre stages. Mamma Mia, The Wizard of Oz, and Priscilla Queen of the Desert have already been announced to much celebration.
