The Daisy Theatre by Ronnie Burkett at the 2018 Sydney Festival

It is with great pleasure that we announce the return of Ronnie Burkett Theatre of Marionettes to Australia with the presentation of his latest production,  The Daisy Theatre at the 2018 Sydney Festival from 13 to 27 Jan.

Co-commissioned and premiered in Canada by Luminato in Toronto, co-commissioned and premiered in the USA by Kristy Edmunds at CAP UCLA, The Daisy Theatre premiered in New York with a two-week sold-out run at the Baryshnikov Arts Centre and in New Zealand at Auckland Live and the Christchurch Festival.

The Daisy Theatre is Ronnie Burkett unleashed…unscripted, by the seat of his pants, manipulating and voicing his characters through variety acts, impromptu monologues, musical numbers and audience participation, featuring a cast of over 50 marionette characters. Variety numbers parody theatrical genres from opera, music hall, Las Vegas, French cabaret and vaudeville with characters including lounge singer Rosemary Focaccia, marionette ventriloquist Meyer Lemon, chanteuse Jolie Jolie, and “Canada’s oldest and worst actress” Miss Lillian Lunkhead. With the ever-changing content and nightly improv, this is a show that has audiences returning for more.
