Stepping on stage

13 to 15 Jul————————————————– Hansel & Gretel (Scotland)

This year’s action takes off with a grand production staged by the award-winning Scottish Ballet. The company is bringing an adaptation of the Grimm brother’s classic tale taking both children and grownups on a ride of delicious treats and skilful dance. Brimming with magic and wit, this ballet’s creative twists and turns will capture the attention of children and families with toys that come to life and a beautiful bewitching ballerina who is not at all as she seems. Hansel and Gretel’s dance remake gives the timeless story a makeover of relevance to modern times, replacing its traditional medieval atmosphere with a mid-20th Century setting.

19 to 22 Jul ———————————————-The Way Back Home (Denmark)

The Way Back Home is a visually charming adventure displaying a mix of animated puppetry and music, exploring a child’s boundless imagination. Based on an award-winning illustrated book by Oliver Jeffers, the wordless play enacts the story of a little boy who one day flies a single propeller plane so far high that he finds himself stranded on the moon. There, the boy soon meets a little Martian who is also stuck. Amidst plenty of physically funny situations, the two new friends are going to help each other find a way to fix their crafts and return home safely.

03-05.08.2018—————————————————–Sheep Carousel (Belgium)

Staged by the Belgian duo D’irque & Fien,Sheep Carousel is a mesmerising, weightless adventure without words that will leave the audience speechless! The magic happens when a piano suddenly breaks free to ignore gravity laws, almost flying away, swooping up and down like in a fair ride, before the audience’s very own eyes. A combination of acrobatics and music taking children and grownups back to the tradition of street performing.

08-12.08.2018—————————————————— Beatles for Babies (Spain)

Infants are about to take the stage over and lose themselves on the warm sound of rock legends. The little ones will have the most exciting moment of their very tender ages with Beatles for Babies. The show is born out of the hearts of four musicians and a dancer who came up with the idea of adapting a performance for tiny tots into a tribute to one of the most iconic bands of all time. Babies and toddlers will be encouraged to move and crawl around to the sound of immortal tunes like Yesterday, Yellow Submarine and Hey Jude. The show is conceived and staged by Spanish group La Petita Malumaluga, a company specialised in creating performances for the tiniest audiences aged 0-3.
