To start off the new year, Alfred Hitchcock’s classic spy thriller North by Northwest is brought to life in a stunning theatrical adaptation. Kay + McLean Production’s North by Northwest returns to Australia following hugely successful seasons in Melbourne, the UK, and Canada. Season 2019 highlights also include two of the world’s biggest and most successful musicals: Disney’s spectacular Aladdin and the nine-time Tony Award winning The Book of Mormon.

In 2019, dance lovers are in for a spectacular year with Sydney Dance Theatre’s 50^th Anniversary Celebration Triple-bill, the world premiere of Australian Dance Theatre’s North South, a 30^th anniversary season of work by the extraordinary Bangarra Dance Theatre and a heavenly production of The Nutcracker, presented by Adelaide Festival Centre and The Australian Ballet.

School holidays will be packed with great family entertainment starting in Summer with Sarah & Duck, Deadly 60 Down Under and the hugely popular performing arts programme for 8 to 16-year olds, On Stage. Throughout the year, Something On Saturday will present a carefully curated programme of music, arts and crafts for young children.

Adelaide Festival Centre also presents its own stunning festivals in 2019, starting with Adelaide French Festival from 11 to 13 Jan. The three-day celebration features two world premieres, 15 Australian premieres, Australian exclusives, and more than 20 premieres especially for Adelaide French Festival. In its second year, the festival shines a light on the beautiful region of Brittany, with a range of musicians, artists, designers and chefs showcasing the region’s rich and unique culture and connections to the sea.

In February, Adelaide Festival Centre and Adelaide Symphony Orchestra present a concert that unites cultures through the power of music in a Chinese New Year Concert on 18 Feb. Led by Chinese-Australian conductor Dane Lam, Principal Conductor of China’s Xi’an Symphony Orchestra, the concert features the remarkable Australian-Chinese cellist, Li-Wei Qin.

Adelaide Festival Centre’s announced its first ever principal partner with their Season 2019 launch. QBE Australia and New Zealand recognised an opportunity to support what is important to South Australians, connect with existing and potential customers and partners, and strengthen its support of the arts. This five-year partnership is one of the most significant partnerships in South Australia and the largest ever secured by Adelaide Festival Centre.
