It’s been a busy few months for GWB Entertainment, with the opening of two major shows in Johannesburg, South Africa and Melbourne, Australia – and a jam-packed year ahead.

School of Rock The Musical opened at the start of November to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike.

Presented by GWB Entertainment and S&Co, in association with Kham Inc by arrangement with The Really Useful Group Limited, the Australian premiere at Her Majesty’s Theatre in Melbourne was a stand-out success.

With a 4.5 star review, The Age described the show as “an unalloyed delight – a slick, family friendly musical with a big rock sound”.

A review in the Herald Sun declared ‘School’s out and rock is in town.

“Lights up Melbourne theatre – this is a triumph and guaranteed to uplift in almost every way,” the review continued.

Timeout wrote that School of Rock The Musical is a “delightful production… super slick…sharp and witty”, and Noise 11 declared: “Go and see ‘School of Rock’ – take your kids, take their grandparents”.

Praise was especially high for the young performers, who are aged between 9 and 12 years. The talented youngsters – of which there are three rotating groups -sing, dance and play their instruments live on stage.

It is a point that Andrew Lloyd Webber himself makes clear at the start of every performance with a recorded message assuring the audiences that yes, the young performers, really are that talented.

“The cast’s talent and cuteness will no doubt have packed theatres swooning for months to come. Feet-tapping, head-banging, family friendly entertainment. Rock on indeed”, wrote Arts Hub.

This critically acclaimed West End and Broadway smash hit musical from Andrew Lloyd Webber will rock Melbourne until early February 2019 before a tour to Asia, in particular China.

The Australian tour continues later in 2019 in Brisbane and Sydney.

Another major coup for GWB Entertainment is Matilda the Musical, which opened in Johannesburg, South Africa in October 2018 – to a standing ovation from the audience.

Presented in association with The Royal Shakespeare Company, the International Tour of Matilda the Musical will see it play in Cape Town from December into January 2019, before heading across to Singapore and beyond.

The multi-award winning musical is the story of an extraordinary little girl who dares to take a stand and change her own destiny.

2019 will see West Side Story play in two of Australia’s most iconic theatres, featuring some of the nation’s most exciting young performers.

Leonard Bernstein’s world-famous score features unforgettable songs like Maria, Tonight, Somewhere, America and I Feel Pretty. Presented by GWB Entertainment and Opera Australia, the BB Group Production opens in Melbourne in April 2019 and Sydney in August 2019.

After a successful tour Down Under earlier this year, the production of George Orwell’s 1984, presented by GWB Entertainment in association with the State Theatre Company of South Australia, travelled to Singapore to headline the Singapore International Festival of Arts.

The spine-chilling literary classic was given new life in this theatrical production that boasts seasons on West End and Broadway.
