Revival in Spring—an Incoming Banquet of Music and Theatre catered by Shaanxi Performance Art Centre

As the flowers begin to bloom underneath the sapphire sky of Qujiang Lake, Shaanxi Performance Art Centre (SNPAC) has launched two exhilarating events that are sure to draw countless audiences to the theatre amid the warmth of spring breeze. 

Aspire – Xian Symphony Orchestra (XSO) – 2021 Season of Classical Music

Under the theme of “Aspire,” the resident orchestra of Xi’an Concert Hall, XSO proudly introduces what has been the most magnificent season till date. The Season of Classical Music this year is constructed by five units, including Charisma of Chinese Ancient Tunes [国潮风华], The First Shot of Instrumental Blasts [乐开王炸], Masters for Masterpieces [古典大师], Vocals Flung My Soul [声动人心], and Bewitched by the Baroque [情迷巴洛克].  

All five units are to be presented by world-class artists, such as the top-notch composer Tan Dun, legendary pianist Martha Argerich, French violin master Augustin Dumay, award-winning violinist Ning Feng, unparalleled tenor Javier Camarena, and genius Dutch recorder player Lucie Horsch.

In addition to incoming recitals and concerts, XSO are also thrilled to introduce our new Artistic Director/Chief Guest Conductor—the renowned composer and conductor Tan Dun. His collaboration would bring the artistic creation of XSO to the next level.

“Open up! The Superpower of Acting inside You!”— the 10th Xian Theatre Festival  

From April to July 2021 , the 10th Xian Theatre Festival, constituted of the Showcase Unit and Specially Invited Directorial Unit, seeks to engage audiences from around the country in various theatrical activities. 14 original plays, near 30 productions along with multiple public theatre events would spread the theatre fever to every corner of the ancient city of Xian, which includes The Pillowman led by celeb actor Zhou Yiwei, A Behanding in Spokane written by Martin Mcdonaugh, the adaptation of Chinese classics Journey to the West directed by Huang Ying, Festival d’avignon invited production Aqualtic and more breath-taking shows. 

 As the haze of the pandemic begins to fade away with the long-gone chilly winter nights, SNPAC wishes to reunite with everyone in the theatre, under the shimmering sunlight of a warm spring. Whether it is enjoying the enchanting notes in symphonies or reliving the highlight moments of a play, we welcome your families, friends, lovers and you to have a good time in these two must-go festivals.
