Created especially for upcoming new performers by the Taiwan Traditional Theatre Center, Inherit & Showcase — Stage for the Up-and-Coming Talent Series provides the fresh faces of traditional opera the opportunity to observe and learn from one another, to compare notes, and offer each other encouragement, while providing a focal point for the exhibition of youth performers’ training and skills. In 2021, Inherit & Showcase—Stage for the Up-and-Coming Talent Series has invited 12 troupes of elite young performers to come together to participate in 16 joint performances that span a variety of traditional styles, such as domestic Peking Opera, Taiwanese Opera, Hakka Opera, Luantan Opera, and Henan Bangzi Opera, and Kunqu Opera.
