Programming at Arts Centre Melbourne
This year Arts Centre Melbourne partnered with ALWAYS LIVE, a brand-new Victoria-wide celebration of live contemporary music. Arts Centre Melbourne’s programme boasted the return of BLAKTIVISM, the Melbourne Music Bus Tour, Workshops in Arts Centre Melbourne’s creative workshop space, The Channel, and continued daily access to the Australian Music Vault.
Arts Centre Melbourne’s annual Live at the Bowl festival has returned from January to April at Victoria’s most iconic outdoor venue, the Sidney Myer Music Bowl. The blockbuster line-up features some of the best home-grown acts and international artists across music, dance, community-led and family-friendly events including Arctic Monkeys, Bon Iver, Darren Hayes, Lorde, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Midsumma Extravaganza and the Teeny Tiny Stevies.
Cameron Mackintosh’s new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s legendary show, The Phantom of the Opera opened at Arts Centre Melbourne’s State Theatre on 14 November and Morgan Lloyd Malcolm’s electrifying new play, Emilia, about Elizabethan poet Emilia Bassano had its Australian premiere in the same month.
