Celebrate Chinese New Year “Tu”gether with SCCC!

The Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) celebrates the Year of the Rabbit (pronounced as “tu” in Mandarin) with a special rabbit-themed art installation on its Roof Garden entitled (Tu)gether! The popular Festive Fever website has also been refreshed to provide more fun and interesting information on how Chinese Singaporeans celebrate Chinese New Year.

(Tu)gether is an art installation that highlights Chinese New Year traditions in Singapore. Created by local art and design studio Whisky and Foxtrot LLP, the mixed-media artwork presents a cast of characters from Chinese culture – Tu Zai (Rabbit), Nian Mei, and Ong Lai (Pineapple). These lovable characters celebrate friendships and family ties during the festive season.

Special light-and-sound shows will be held on selected Saturday nights, to bring these characters to life. Be sure to bring your family and friends down to SCCC’s Roof Garden to catch this cute installation! It is open daily from 10am to 10pm till 31 March 2023, free admission.

Collect SCCC’s Limited Edition Rabbit Red Packet

Designed by artists – Fiona Koh and Warren Khong, the red packets feature four popular local Chinese New Year practices: reunion dinner, lou hei, lion dance, giving red packets and a pair of mandarin oranges. The set also comes with blank red packets and stickers for children to create their own designs. Visitors may redeem a free set by heading down to SCCC.

Festive Fever: The one-stop festival guide returns

As Chinese New Year is a key Chinese festival celebrated in Singapore, Festive Fever aims to provide a one-stop microsite to provide information about the many traditions and customs associated with this festival.

Besides many exciting programmes, SCCC has invited local artistes Annette Lee and Benjamin Kheng, a popular duo known for their musical interpretation of local culture to give their take of what it is like to be Chinese Singaporean through their《我们是……》MV.

The song will highlight many distinctive aspects of our local Chinese culture.
