Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS Presents an Exciting Line Up of Concerts from Oct – Dec 2023

Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP), located in the middle of the PETRONAS Twin Towers, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Reaching the last quarter of this year, DFP not only commemorates a quarter-century of musical excellence but also embraces the vibrancy of all music genres that grace the DFP stage.

First, the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) will collaborate with a renowned game developer, HoYoverse to present Genshin Impact – Melodies of Endless Journey to deliver a supreme ‘live’ performance of the music from Genshin Impact on 7 October. This concert will be led by MPO Resident Conductor Naohisa Furusawa. All tickets are sold out.

Next, the MPO will present a concert themed Rhapsodic Rachmaninoff, a whirlwind of musical styles and forms on 21 October. The concert will present Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini, a famously intricated caprices and will be performed by Russian pianist Lilya Zilberstein. This programme will also include Wagner’s Overture to Tannhauser and Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony. All concerts will be led by Michał Nesterowicz.

The MPO continues to captivate its audience when it presents concerts themed The Music of Hans Zimmer from 26 to 29 October. Hans Zimmer’s remarkable work as film composer has won him two Academy Awards and four Grammys in various films. To be led by MPO Resident Conductor Gerard Salonga, these concerts will present multiple hits themes from various films such as Dune, The Dark Knight, Interstellar and Pirates of The Caribbean. All tickets are sold out.

Next, sensational young star Khai Bahar will take centrestage on 11 November.  This concert will be a testament to his remarkably young career, garnering more than 50 awards and producing more than 30 songs.

The MPO returns to the stage on 25 November to present a dose of classical music masterpieces under the leadership of Gerard Salonga. The programme consists of works such as Dvorak’s Symphony No.8 and Sibelius’ Violin Concerto (which will feature talented Malaysian violinist Low Zi Yang).

DFP 25th anniversary reaches its climax with an exciting concert by famed indie group, Meet Uncle Hussain on 2 December. Performing a string of hits which catapulted them into the spotlight, this concert is a must-watch for all indie music lovers.

This is a testament that DFP has taken initiatives to cater to a variety of musical genres for the public to enjoy and experience all the music offerings.
