Dewan Filharmonik Petronas presents Seni Festival 2024
A Stage For Cultural Heritage & Arts!
Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP), located in the middle of the PETRONAS Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC), is proud to present DFP Seni Festival 2024, an extravaganza of music and performing arts which will span in three months. This event is a unique platform which will showcase diverse local talents and exciting cultural entertainment by renowned arts groups and orchestra.
This is the sixth time DFP organized an event of such magnitude with an aim to provide the stage for our traditional and heritage art forms to be showcased to the world. Prior to this, DFP has been collaborating with various cultural groups and artists with objectives to preserve, nurture and promote the rich diversity of our invaluable art forms.
Chief Executive Officer of DFP, Hassina Begam Abdul Gani said, “Since its inception in 1998, DFP has remained steadfast in its artistic objective to present great performances by hosting many acclaimed artists. This year’s festival is a testimony of its commitment to nurture an appreciation towards our heritage legacy such as traditional music and arts, providing a platform for these timeless and inspiring performances for Malaysians from all walks of life.”

Jit Sin High School’s Chinese Orchestra
This festival will commence with the artistry of Jit Sin High School’s Chinese Orchestra on 20 Jul. Themed Dialogue of the Songs of Chu, this concert will showcase orchestral Chinese music with a mesmerising dialogue between the erhu and the cello featuring the talents of Tan Rou Yee and Lim Sing Yee respectively. Well into its 50th anniversary, this orchestra has garnered accolades in Malaysia and abroad throughout its illustrious existence.

Actor Arja Lee in Mek Mulung
Next, arts enthusiasts will be treated to a traditional theatre of Mek Mulung on 27 Jul. Themed DFP Muzikal: Mek Mulung Putera Cahaya Bulan, the presentation of the 500-year theatre is DFP’s collaboration with Department of Culture & Arts (or Jabatan Kebudayaan & Kesenian Negara, JKKN) and Kumpulan Mek Mulung Seri Mahawangsa (a combination of Persatuan Penggerak Warisan Seni Budaya Negeri Kedah or ‘AKRAB’, and Kumpulan Mek Mulung Wang Tepus). It will feature actor Arja Lee in the lead role, in an exciting tale of love and tragedy.

Randai
The festival continues with a traditional Minangkabau folk theatre called Randai scheduled on 10 Aug. Audience will enjoy a musical splendour in an enchanting world themed DFP Muzikal: Randai Mudo Pak Belalang where martial arts and dance come to life. This traditional theatre from Negeri Sembilan will showcase a delightful blend of cultural richness and energetic dance by the talented children trained by Pewara Dance Theater, a group of alumni and staff of ASWARA (Akademi Seni Budaya & Warisan Kebangsaan).
The festival comes in full circle with many exciting fringe activities that will take place at the DFP lobby on 7 and 8 Sep. Various arts groups will present their respective unique offerings in making music and arts accessible for the public.
