LG Arts Center SEOUL Unveils Exciting 2026 Season Following Successful 25th Anniversary

Following the triumphant conclusion of its 25^th anniversary celebrations last year, which captivated 300,000 audiences, LG Arts Center SEOUL is poised for an exhilarating new season in 2026. On 18 Dec 2025, the center unveiled its highly anticipated curated programme series, CoMPAS (Contemporary Music and Performing Arts Season).

Kicking off 25 Mar with the legendary Wynton Marsalis & Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, this season promises a vibrant tapestry of artistic expression, showcasing an eclectic blend of theatre, dance, jazz, classical music, and pop music that resonate with today’s cultural landscape. Season highlights include the legendary pianists Katia and Marielle Labèque performing the mesmerizing Philip Glass’s Cocteau Trilogy, visionary choreographer Crystal Pite debuting her latest work Assembly Hall, Alexander Ekman’s enchanting Midsummer Night’s Dream following the sold-out success of Hammer in 2025, the incomparable pansori storyteller Lee Jaram’s grand theater rendition of Snow, Snow, Snow, following the sold-out run in 2025.

A standout moment of the season will be the world premiere of Uncle Vanya on 8 May, directed by Son Sang-kyu, known for directing the acclaimed play, The Lives of Others. Also, the member of the innovative Yangson Project, a collaborative production group renowned for its minimalist yet profoundly intense theatrical productions, Son’s interpretation of Anton Chekhov’s realist text is set to redefine this classic.

LG Arts Center SEOUL continues to frontier the realm of Korean contemporary performing arts, presenting must-see masterpieces from both global and Korean artists of our era. The Cherry Orchard Carries Forward Its Tour to Adelaide and New York

LG Arts Center’s critically acclaimed production of The Cherry Orchard, directed and adapted by the visionary Simon Stone, is set to continue its global tour in 2026. After making a stunning world premiere at LG Arts Center SEOUL in 2024, the play achieved an impressive average of 95% seat occupancy during its month-long run in Seoul, garnering praises for its exceptional cast and the timeless relevance of its adaptation set in modern-time Korea.

Last year, The Cherry Orchard enchanted audiences of Hong Kong, where it played to sold-out crowds at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Grand Theatre for an unforgettable three-day run. It then captivated Singaporean audiences at the Esplanade – Theatre on the Bay, leaving a lasting impression.

Building on this remarkable success, The Cherry Orchard is set to expand its reach to Australia and North America. The production will grace the stage at Festival Theatre as part of the esteemed Adelaide Festival from 27 Feb to 1 Mar 2026. Following this, it will make its highly anticipated North American premiere at Park Avenue Armory in New York City, running from 14-25 Sep 2026.

Alongside Jeon Doyeon and Park Haesoo, an ensemble of ten leading actors at the very forefront of Korean drama, will meet international audiences with exquisitely tuned ensemble work and a riveting onstage energy. This global tour not only marks the premieres on the new continents but also paves the way for future international collaborations and opportunities within the flourishing K-content landscape, led by LG Arts Center.

Adelaide (27 Feb – 1 Mar 2026)

Adelaide Festival welcomes back the director and dramatist Simon Stone with his radical Korean adaptation of The Cherry Orchard. The groundbreaking production will light up Festival Theatre, the largest proscenium theatre in Adelaide.

New York (14-25 Sep 2026)

The Cherry Orchard will hit Park Avenue Armory, a pivotal venue that shapes the cultural landscape of New York City. Presented as part of 2026 Season at Park Avenue Armory, the production will transform into a piece of art suiting the historical place.
