Adapting To An Uncertain Future – New Ways of Connecting with Chinese Singaporean Culture

As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, it is ever more important for us to come together amidst uncertainty. Arts and culture are crucial platforms to achieve that connection.

In these challenging times, the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) has adapted many of its programmes by presenting them at external locations or online.

Afterwords Exhibition

Does a piece of paper still have a purpose when there’s no space left?

Inspired by the tradition of not tearing or misusing any piece of writing, calligraphy artist Malik Mazlan and haiku poet Dave Tai sought to extend the longevity of the written word and push the creative limits of a piece of writing. By using paper waste, they turned ‘trash’ into new canvases for haiku and calligraphy to create an eco-friendly yet meaningful exhibition.

After its display at SCCC, the exhibition will travel to the following locations:

1. Ang Mo Kio Public Library – July 2021
2. Clementi Public Library – August 2021
3. Cheng San Public Library – September 2021
